If you do too then we invite you to join us. Yes, you may not be a treehugger, but trust us, you are most assuredly a Motherfolk!
I'm starting this group to establish a network of suburban chicken wranglers so that we can help each other navigate the ins and outs of keeping chickens as pets. There are a number of similar groups in Seattle, but not so many in the suburbs. Hopefully we can all be resources to each other for questions of how to understand your local regulations, HOA requirements, neighbor relations, health and care, coop design, and so on. First and foremost, though, my aim is to bring the 'burbs up to date i …

Enron. The BP oil spill. The financial crisis. Wall Street vs. Main Street. Lately, we can’t seem to find a newspaper that hasn’t written a story about big corporations and bad behavior. Not surprisingly, trust amongst consumers is at an all time low. But in reality, more and more businesses are using their resources to do good in the world, and a new breed of entrepreneurs and enterprises are emerging whose operations directly provide a net benefit to society. … The majority of the meetups will be North of downtown Seattle in Fremont, Wallingford, Green Lake and Ballard. In addition to the kiddos making friends and hanging out, I would love to have a monthly parents or mom's night out. Before moving to Seattle, I was a member of a large and very busy mom's group where we were always getting together, storking new mom's (dinner service after a new birth), hosting quarterly/seasonal parties for the kids, and building strong friendships and support systems …

Come, offer your concerns and solutions, and meet others who share an interest in freedom, deep democracy and whole systems approaches to governance.
